A four-member delegation from the Cocoa Marketing Company, (GH) Ltd have attended the 2018 107th International Labour Organisation Conference held
in Geneva, Switzerland.
The team, which was led by the Human Resource Manager,Doreen Fanny Amartey included Mrs. Shirley Adu, Deputy HR Manager, Mr. Sampson Kwaku Amoako, the
National Union Chairman and Mr.Samuel Owusu,Union Secretary.
Inter Alia, the conference addressed a range of issues, including workplace violence, women at work,social dialogue, application of standards
and development co-operation.
The Director- General of the International Labour Oganisation, Mr. Guy Ryder, in a speech, warned of "heightened tension in the world" and urged
delegates to show "the spirit of tripartism, compromise and consensus", which he noted, is "a precondition of success for the conference and of
the ILO".
On workplace violence and harassment, the Director -General implored the delegates to open the way for guarantees of workplaces entirely free of violence and harassment.
He underscored the need for action against all forms of violence and harassment at work, including sexual harassment and encouraged the
delegates to produce results which will make the all important difference.
During the conference, a committee of workers, employers and government representatives held discussion on possible new standards to fight violence
and harassment at workplaces.
