The Retired Staff Association of the Cocoa Marketing Company (Gh) Ltd has been inaugurated in Accra, amidst enthusiastic joy, as it was the only subsidiary in the cocoa industry that was hitherto without such an association.
The maiden executives are;
Appearing as the special guest speaker, the Deputy Managing Director in charge of operations, Mr. Paul Isaac Kwofie, admonished the newly elected executives of the Association to ensure that the challenges and concerns of its membership are addressed and also foster a sense of belongingness among members of the Association.
He minced no words in proclaiming that the members should work in tandem with the executives, if they want their voices to be relevantly recognized in the affairs of CMC, given their wealth of experience.
''To you, the members, I encourage you to work collaboratively among yourselves and with your executives, in order to affect positive decision making in CMC, albeit you are no longer in active service. You are a bunch of experience, given the number of years you served CMC, Ccobod and by extension, Ghana.
Mr. Kwofie noted that though the formation of the Association is long overdue, as some establishments who do not come near CMC in terms of prestige have had such Associations long ago. it is still better late than never ever.
He noted that the retired staff started it all, paving the way for the active staff of today, who are only building upon the foundation laid, thus upgrading the system. He was quick to add that the active staff of today should respect and assist the retired staff, in times of need, since every active staff of today will one day go on retirement.
''You should be given the needed respect, recognition and assistance, should you call for one, when you are around' 'he stressed.
Rev Chris Padi, Chairman of the Association was full of praise to the Management and staff of CMC for the many and varied contributions offered for the formation of the Association.
Present at the inaugural ceremony were representatives of the Retired Staff Association of Cocobod, Union Executives of CMC ,Senior Staff Association of CMC and some Management staff of CMC.
