Cocoa Marketing Company (Ghana) Limited (CMC) has reaffirmed its commitment to employee health and well-being by organizing a breast cancer awareness and education session as part of its Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities, popularly known as Pink October.

The program, jointly organized by the Company’s Health and Safety Unit and the CMC Ladies Club, brought staff together for an interactive session to deepen their understanding of breast cancer, encourage preventive healthcare practices, and promote the importance of early detection.
The session was part of CMC’s broader efforts to foster a healthy, informed, and supportive work environment where employee well-being remains an organizational priority.
Promoting Awareness Through Education
Facilitated by a health professional, the session provided participants with practical information on breast cancer, including its risk factors, early warning signs, screening options, and the importance of seeking timely medical attention.
The engagement also addressed common misconceptions about the disease while emphasizing the need for individuals to take a proactive approach to their health.
The session highlighted the importance of recognizing unusual breast changes, understanding individual risk factors, and consulting qualified healthcare professionals when concerns arise.
Beyond the presentation, the program’s interactive format gave staff an opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification, and better understand breast health and preventive care.

Encouraging Early Detection and Proactive Healthcare
A central message throughout the session was that early detection plays an important role in improving breast cancer treatment outcomes.
Participants were encouraged to remain attentive to changes in their bodies, seek appropriate medical advice, and make informed decisions about breast cancer screening in consultation with healthcare professionals.
The program also reinforced the importance of moving beyond awareness campaigns to adopt practical, health-conscious behaviors.
By equipping employees with relevant health information, CMC seeks to encourage informed personal health decisions while helping to build a workplace where conversations about health and well-being are supported.
Strengthening a Culture of Employee Well-being
The collaboration between the Health and Safety Unit and the CMC Ladies Club reflects the importance of collective responsibility in promoting employee welfare.
While CMC continues to execute its mandate within Ghana’s cocoa marketing value chain, the Company recognizes that its people remain central to its operational effectiveness and long-term success.
Initiatives such as the breast cancer awareness session demonstrate the value of creating opportunities for staff to gain knowledge that improves their lives beyond their professional responsibilities.
The program also highlighted the role workplace institutions can play in advancing public health awareness by providing platforms for education, meaningful engagement, and shared learning.
Sustaining the Message Beyond Pink October
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed globally every October to increase awareness of the disease, encourage early detection and promote support for individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
For CMC, the campaign’s significance extends beyond the activities organized during the month.
The Company believes that health awareness must translate into sustained attention to personal well-being, informed healthcare decisions, and a supportive environment for individuals facing health challenges.
Through the collective efforts of the Health and Safety Unit, the CMC Ladies Club, and participating staff, the session strengthened awareness and encouraged a culture of preventive healthcare within the organization.

As Pink October draws to a close, CMC reiterates a message worth carrying throughout the year: awareness creates understanding, early detection can save lives, and prioritizing health is everyone’s responsibility.
Together in Pink: Raising Awareness, Inspiring Hope, Saving Lives.
